Growing Indian real estate firm BPTP turns to IBM to improve customer buying experience

Adopts IBM PureSystems to run mission-critical virtualized SAP solution
Bangalore : IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that BPTP Limited, one of the leading Indian real estate company, has adopted IBM PureSystems to streamline its IT infrastructure and improve the overall home buying experience for its customers.

Established in 2003, BPTP, like India itself, has experienced rapid growth over the last decade. The company utilizes business analytics to match the best properties with its customers. As urban centers around the country have ballooned, so too has BPTP’s storage, processing and overall IT infrastructure. Sustaining and building upon this growth required BPTP to find a better performing computing and storage solution that would enable a virtualized environment and at the same time help address the growing complexities posed by such a virtualized infrastructure.

To meet these challenges, BPTP selected IBM PureSystems for all of its processing and storage requirements. The flexibility, ease of use and scalability of PureSystems made it easy for BPTP to replace its existing infrastructure and create a virtualized solution around its existing SAP environment.

"Our vision for future growth based on an unparalleled home buying experience for our customer, meant that we needed to deploy an IT infrastructure that fundamentally changes the experience and economics of the way we manage our IT,” said Sandeep Bedi, Director of Systems & Strategy, BPTP.

Added Vilakshan Jakhu, Senior Vice President and CIO, BPTP, “We chose IBM PureSystems because it seamlessly brings together all aspects of a traditional IT infrastructure - server, storage and networking components - ready to be managed on the cloud. Most importantly, the Flex Systems Manager ensures a centralized management of the entire IT infrastructure including the network, compute and storage layers.”

PureSystems, introduced in April, is the result of $2 billion in research, development and acquisitions over four years and has been designed to help change the economics of IT, to help organizations reduce IT costs and complexity and put more resources towards innovation and growth. With PureSystems, IBM has taken the unprecedented step of completely integrating all of the technology components – virtualized servers, storage, networking and cloud management software – needed to enable a customer to turn on a private cloud system within minutes. In addition, the highly scaleable PureSystems cloud is delivered with built-in security, with no single point of failure.

“As one of the earliest clients, BPTP’s selection of PureSystems clearly illustrates the real benefits companies can achieve by tightening the integration of hardware and software,” said Alok Ohrie, Vice President – Systems & Technology Group, IBM India South Asia. “By freeing up resources typically committed to infrastructure tasks, BPTP will be able to focus on innovations that can improve their customer experience.”

IBM's systems technology is key to providing the mission-critical SAP solution to BPTP. As part of the solution, IBM will deploy three IBM PureFlex Systems, integrated with up to 240 compute nodes, and three IBM Storwize V7000 System Storage nodes, all of which will help BPTP meet its performance and capacity requirements, as well as provide integrated management of servers, networking, storage and virtualization. The IBM PureFlex Systems also feature open standards based networking switches (IEEE 802.1qbg, Edge Virtual Bridging) and options for using VMware and KVM-based virtualization. Adding to the performance and efficiency gains is the use of IBM Storwize V7000 nodes with their mix of serial-attached SCSI (SAS) and solid state drives (SSD) and IBM Easy Tier technology that automatically moves data to the most strategic storage tier.

BPTP chose to finance the PureSystems solution with IBM Global Financing which assures them a faster ROI and lower ownership risk.
