Epson is the No. 1 Projector brand in India in 2H CY 2011

- The World’s No. 1 projector brand moves into the top slot in India as well -
Bangalore : Epson India today announced that as per the latest CyberMedia Research report*, Epson has been ranked the No. 1 projector brand in India in 2H 2011* in terms of unit shipments. The research report released earlier this month places Epson in the No. 1 position with a volume (unit shipments) market share of 13.2% and a value (customer revenue) market share of 15.7% during July-December 2011. Epson’s nearest competitor in terms of unit shipments had a share of 10.7%, while the nearest competitor in terms of revenue had a share of 9.6% during the same period.         
Epson is the worldwide leader in digital projectors with a market share of 22.6% in 2010, as per Fututuresource Consulting.
 
As per the CyberMedia Research report, the India Digital Projector market recorded sales (unit shipments) of 194,528 units in CY 2011. Overall the market grew 42.9% over the previous year. The projector market is fragmented with 13 brands making up for 96% of all shipments in CY 2011. The Education sector emerged as the key demand driver for digital projectors with 45% share in terms of unit shipments in 2011. The second half of 2011 (July-December 2011) saw LCD technology cornering 55% of the market in terms of shipments. LCD projectors employ the '3 LCD' technology that was invented and pioneered by Epson.
 
Commenting on the future Epson India said it will continue to focus on Enterprise, Education and Home segments in 2012.  For the enterprise segment Epson said it will improve ease of use, and efficiency in its projectors for business meetings. By connecting screens together it will allow use of the interactive function to add to presentation writing and storage capability. It will also introduce Mobile projectors with high functionality, (thin, lightweight, and with automatic screen adjustment feature to make them easy to position).
For the Education segment Epson said it will provide value for educators with products that make it easy-to-understand and easy-to-teach thereby making students more interested in learning. It will do this by encouraging the adoption of proprietary Epson functionality such as short throw and interactive projectors.
For the Home segment Epson says it will leverage the high contrast and superb image quality of its home theatre projectors to offer enhanced movie and sports viewing capability to enthusiasts. It will also drive its 3D projector and models that offer connectivity to iPhones and iPads, etc.
 
Commenting on the news Mr. Samba Moorthy, Director, Sales & Marketing at Epson India said, “2011 was a tremendous year for us as far as sales of our projectors are concerned. We were able to grow by over 50% and we expect to continue if not increase the momentum in 2012. We have launched projectors to cater to every conceivable need and price point and now have over 50 models for consumers to choose from.”
