INTEX V.SHOW Mobile Phone Wins ‘mBillionth South Asia Award 2011

Intex Technologies, one of the leading domestic mobile phone makers, was conferred with the coveted ‘mBillionth South Asia Award 2011' for its unique model – INTEX V.SHOW – India's first mobile phone with an in-built projector.
The phone was declared as the only product winner in the 'm-infrastructure' category ( 'm' stands for mobile) for having immense potential as an empowerment tool - making education , vocational training, etc., reach masses, especially in those areas where electricity supply is scarce & irregular.

The event had Mr. Sachin Pilot (Honorable Union Minister of State, Ministry of Communication & IT, Govt. of India) as the Chef Guest. This year, there were 185 nominations spread across 11 categories, 600 delegates and over 200 participants. Post review and voting by the Grand Jury in Sri Lanka, names of 19 finalists were decided and Intex V.Show emerged as one amongst 4 winners in the m-infrastructure category.

Speaking on the occasion Ramesh A. Vaswani, Executive Vice Chairman, Intex Technologies, said, “Intex is truly honored to have won this award. National Skills Development Corporation brought the demand for such a product to us in April 2010. We believed from the very beginning that the product has a great utility for the masses. It has found encouraging acceptance with various NGOs working in the field of rural education and empowerment. This award will surely act as a morale booster for our team who look at such platforms as acknowledgment for collaborative work in the technology domain. Intex's Centre for Design & Development has also applied for a patent for the integrated projector technology.”

mBillionth award is an annual event to recognize innovations in Telecom, Mobile Content & Applications for masses across South Asia. It is organised by the reputed Digital Empowerment Foundation – a not-for-profit organisation working closely with Ministry of Communication & IT, Government of India towards bridging the digital divide in the country through effective & innovative use of mobile phones
