June 2012 Index Highlights:
· Index level rises three percent from a year ago in June
· Agro based industries record the highest growth, while Travel and Tourism; and sector also records strong annual growth; Government/PSU records double digit negative decline
· Demand for Arts/Creative professionals exhibits highest annual gain, followed by professionals in Healthcare
· Coimbatore registers the strongest annual growth for the fourth month in a row. Bangalore is the strongest annual gainer among major metro-markets
The Monster Employment Index India is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity based on a real-time review of millions of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career Web sites and online job listings across India. The Index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry.
“The pace of recruitment growth is moderate as employers continue to exhibit a cautious approach owing to the challenging economic environment. However, there are pockets of elevated demand that suggest relatively favorable conditions in occupations like arts, healthcare, and sales,” said Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India/ Middle- East/ South East Asia).
